Who can apply for in home care?
In Home Care (IHC) is for families who can’t access other approved forms of early childhood education and care. It is typically for families who work unusual hours, live in a remote area or have complex needs. This page outlines the criteria families must meet and the process to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
Families must meet eligibility criteria to access IHC. They must:
– be eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
– demonstrate that no other approved care type is available or suitable.
They must also meet at least one of the following:
– the parent or carers work non-standard or variable hours outside normal child care hours.
– the family is geographically isolated from other approved care types
– the family has complex or challenging needs.
How In Home Care Works
1. Expression of Interest
Email us an expression of interest (EoI).
To submit EoI for WA, email info@ihcsupportagencywa.org.au.
To submit EoI for NT, email info@ihcsupportagencynt.org.au.
Once we have assessed your documents, we will issue a Notice of Decision.
2. Family Management Plan
The agency will work with you to assess your application and develop a Family Management Plan. The Family Management Plan is a document capturing your family’ child care requirements, including each child’s education and care needs.
3. Contact Services
If you are eligible for the in home care program, we will email you a list of service providers in your area. You can then contact each service to find out more about fees, policies and procedures, and educator availability.
4. Wait to be matched
Your family will then be placed on our waitlist. Service providers monitor this list and will advise you when they can match your family with a suitable educator.
5. Connect with an educator
Once a place is available, the service will connect your family with a qualified educator who meets your needs. Supported by home visits and regular communication from the service provider, educators will create and implement an educational care program that caters to each of your children’s needs.
6. Ongoing support
We will regularly complete reviews with you, as required. We will also support you when you transition to other approved care type, when necessary, and provide information regarding other support services, if appropriate.
